Summary:

As the Staff Product Manager for AI, your role will be pivotal in defining and executing AI strategies that fuel Clio’s continued growth and cement our leadership in the legal technology space. You’ll lead the charge in creating AI-driven products and features that simplify complex legal workflows, improve productivity, and unlock transformative insights for legal professionals. With the backing of a fast-growing, high-performing team and a strong hold on the legal market, this is your chance to make an outsized impact in an industry undergoing rapid digital transformation.

This role can be performed from one of our Canadian offices, or remotely from the US or Canada or a combination of both. Some exceptions may apply.

What You’ll Do

Define and Execute AI Product Strategy

  • Own the vision, strategy, and roadmap for AI-powered products and features, aligning them with Clio’s overall business goals.

  • Translate complex AI capabilities into intuitive, high-value solutions for legal professionals, enhancing productivity, accuracy, and client outcomes.

  • Collaborate with engineering, data science, design, and legal experts to deliver domain-specific AI solutions that solve pressing industry challenges.

Deliver Measurable Impact

  • Drive adoption of AI features across Clio’s products by identifying clear customer use cases and integrating them into existing workflows.

  • Develop metrics to measure the success of AI capabilities, such as improvements in efficiency, user adoption, and retention.

  • Create processes to ensure continuous learning and iteration, leveraging feedback and data to improve performance.

Collaborate Across Teams

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to integrate AI seamlessly into Clio’s core platform, including features like document generation, legal chat assistant, recommendation engines, marketing automation, auto timetracking, hybrid search, RAG, predictive analytics, and more. 

  • Work closely with leadership to align AI priorities with company goals and communicate product successes and opportunities.

  • Engage with external stakeholders, including legal professionals and industry experts, to refine use cases and validate product-market fit.

Lead the 0-to-1 Development of AI Initiatives

  • Take AI projects from concept to scale, focusing on key outcomes like enhancing legal workflows and enabling predictive decision-making.

  • Guide the development of AI-powered capabilities that deliver a competitive edge while maintaining high standards for privacy, security, and compliance.

Experience and Skills

  • 8+ years of product management experience, with 5+ years in AI/ML-based products.

  • Proven track record of delivering AI features that incorporate technologies such as LLMs, NLP, generative AI, and predictive analytics.

  • Strong understanding of the AI product lifecycle, including ideation, prototyping, production deployment, and monitoring.

  • Exceptional Analytical Skills: Proven ability to synthesize complex data and translate it into actionable product strategies and priorities.

  • Critical Thinking: Adept at identifying underlying problems and opportunities, even in ambiguous or rapidly evolving scenarios, and framing them in a structured, actionable way.

  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Expertise in leveraging data to validate hypotheses, measure success, and inform product direction.

  • Market Analysis: Deep understanding of AI industry trends, competitive landscapes, and emerging technologies to ensure Clio remains at the forefront of innovation.

Strategic Leadership

  • Demonstrated ability to align AI initiatives with broader company objectives, balancing technical possibilities with customer impact.

  • A strategic thinker with a customer-first mindset, capable of identifying opportunities where AI can deliver measurable value.

  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and leading through influence in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

  • Strategic Prioritization: Ability to balance short-term deliverables with long-term strategic goals, ensuring alignment with Clio’s mission and objectives.

Mindset and Approach

  • Curious and adaptable, with a willingness to navigate ambiguity and drive clarity in complex projects.

  • Strong communication skills, capable of simplifying technical concepts for diverse audiences, including executives, engineers, and customers.

  • Passionate about leveraging AI to solve real-world problems, with a deep commitment to improving legal workflows and access to justice.

The full salary range* for this role is $152,100 to $190,100 to $228,100 CAD..

*We aim to hire all candidates between the minimum and the midpoint of the full salary range. We reserve the midpoint to the maximum of the salary band for internal employees who demonstrate sustained high performance and impact at Clio. The final offer amount for this role will be dependent on individual experience and skillset of the candidate. Please note there are a separate set of salary bands for other regions based on local currency.
