How Louise M. Corrigan & Associates Efficiently Serves Irish and U.S. Clients with Clio
Louise Corrigan’s Dublin-based immigration law practice, Louise M. Corrigan & Associates, is a boutique law firm with a unique focus.
“My practice is half U.S. and half Irish. I’m qualified in the United States and I’m qualified in Ireland, and I run essentially two practices,” Louise explains.
As a small firm working with clients in the U.S. and Ireland, Louise needs efficient case management. To this end, she initially worked with a case management system that served the American side of her practice, but it wasn’t of much help to the Irish side.
Fortunately, Louise followed the lead of Irish solicitor colleagues who started using Clio’s law practice management software. After initially adopting Clio to help with the Irish side of her practice, she decided to use it to streamline her firm’s overall operations.
How Clio helped
Streamlined document management
“I like filing to email and being able to integrate my email and my client file. Previously, I would have to open the document file, save as, and stick it in a Dropbox folder, and I would manually pull everything into Clio from Dropbox. But now that the systems are set up and the matters are there—I can integrate them.”

The flexibility to support U.S. and Irish practices all in one platform
Because her practice serves clients in both the U.S. and Ireland, it’s crucial for her case management software not to be too narrowly focused on one jurisdiction. Here, Clio fits the bill.
“The fact that, with Clio, there is a U.S. element and that the software isn’t very specific to a typical Irish general practice, which my business is not, is good.”
“Once it started to grow a bit more in the U.S. as well, it encouraged me to stay with Clio and to pack in the other system because I felt I was just using it to access forms that were specific to immigration in the U.S. But for a case management system and tracking time and correspondence and all that, I wasn’t using the other system, so I didn’t need both. Clio ticked the box for me in that regard.”

From manual client intake processes to an efficient client intake pipeline
“Now, with Clio Grow, from the point at which a potential client contacts us, there’ll be a big, clear picture of who they are, what they’re coming with, and everything will be just there. At the moment, I’m trying to automate my intake process as much as possible and take time back from going back and forth on email.”

Additional benefits to using Clio
Making remote work flexible and simple
As a remote worker, Louise sees the potential for using Clio to help facilitate further growth and efficiency gains in the future.
“I work remotely. I have a serviced office in Dublin, so it looks to the outside world like I have this office where I sit every day, but I don’t. There are meeting rooms, and I drive in if I need to meet somebody. Typically, you would have paid somebody to take the calls and book appointments, and I’m doing a lot of that now.”
